The Process and Timeline

Qualifications for application: The House of Brigid seeks young adults motivated by faith and a desire to serve the Catholic Church. To be considered for membership in the House of Brigid, you must have completed a Bachelor’s Degree. Your primary area of study need not have been music or theology, but we are seeking experience in ministerial activities. A significant portion of our ministry is musical, and while applicants need not have formal musical training, experience in choirs and especially with planning Catholic liturgy is valued by the selection committee.

Volunteers with the House of Brigid receive housing, travel to and from each year of service, health insurance, and a living stipend.

Potential applicants should take time to familiarize themselves with the House of Brigid’s work before applying; much information can be found on this website, and questions that cannot be answered by the website can be directed to Anne Horcher, Program Manager, at ahorcher@nd.edu.

Below is a timeline for our recruitment and application process:

November: Applications are available on the website and emailed to those who’ve expressed interest.

January 19th, 2024: Applications Due; interviews scheduled with all who complete the application.

Mid-February: Interviews on Notre Dame’s campus (In 2024, some interviews will be conducted via Zoom or Skype.)

Late February: Positions offered and contracts signed for the following academic year. Your contract will run from August 15 to June 30 (this end date is not negotiable, as Irish primary schools’ academic year runs through the end of June).
