This weekend we got to celebrate our first Bank Holiday!  Here’s what happens on a Bank Holiday…you have visitors from Dublin and Geneva and hang out with them and have a great time and you don’t have to go to work on Monday!

We had such a great weekend with Brigid and Jamie and spent our time together eating and laughing and singing at Mass!  Brigid and Jamie joined us for the Vigil Choir and Folk Group liturgies and it really made a difference to have an extra alto and tenor with us.  And we were so blessed to have Brigid with us to speak the beautiful poem in Irish while we sang “A Walking Prayer.” Thanks, Brigid!

It was fun to walk around Wexford and show our guests the wonderful town that we now call home!  And Wexford “has a great buzz about it” (as we’ve been told and experienced) because of the opera festival.  There are galleries with exhibits all over, many interesting characters in town (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Mulcahy_(painter)), and Christmas/Halloween/opera lights all over!

We got into the Halloween spirit by decorating the house and preparing a bunch of Halloween-themed food for a party on Sunday.

But in the end we just brought the food to the bar to watch singing pubs!  This is a competition between the pubs in town where they gather up some of their most talented regulars and have them all perform in a night while being judged.  We were all in costume and got several funny looks, but we didn’t mind…we had friends, beer, entertainment, and cupcakes!

Brigid and Jamie left on Monday night, and now it’s back to reality!  The schools are off this week, so we’re concentrating on planning music and Advent! And trying to stay warm!

Until Friday… God Bless! And Happy Halloween!
