It’s a Monday morning and I’m sitting down to write a blog post about a Teach Bhríde workshop. I’m having the craziest déjà vu. And I’m worried it might be spreading.

As you probably assumed from the title, the community was on the road this weekend to deliver a workshop on music for Lent and Holy Week in Bearna Parish just outside Galway. It was a fantastic weekend. Our workshop was attended by around 20 area parish musicians and choir directors, and we were able to pass along a massive amount of new repertoire for the season. The workshop covered everything from hymnody to seasonal psalmody to music for just about every liturgical situation a choir might face throughout the Lenten season. After the workshop was done, we were lucky enough to be able to provide the music for the Saturday evening vigil mass at the parish. It was a busy day, but hopefully one that will have a lasting effect throughout the season of Lent. We really cannot thank Anne Marie Horan enough for inviting us out and providing such wonderful hospitality throughout the weekend.

So now it’s back to work in the “sunny south east.” We have a busy week ahead with two confirmation retreats on Wednesday and Friday. Carolyn and I will be in Kennedy Park working with the confirmation choir on Tuesday, while Jess and I will be beginning preparations for the next class mass. Clarisa is hard at work putting together the “Ceremony of Light” for Scoil Mhuire’s Confirmation Class, which will be held this weekend. And on top of all of that, we’ll be heading back to Dublin on Friday for another mass with the ACE community.

We’ll let you know how all of it goes.
