This weekend we were extremely blessed to get a visit from our good friend and House of Brigid, Inc. Treasurer, John Calcutt. Following a business trip to London, John came to Wexford on Saturday and we spent the day enjoying some great meals and walking around Wexford Town, catching up on each other’s lives. It was great for us as a community to share with John all that we have been up to here over the last nine months with our parish work and community life. I think it was also very beneficial (at least for me) to reflect on where we are nine months in, and start putting into words some of my thoughts and observations on our role here and how it has changed over time. It was so great to see John and we were very grateful he made the trek out to see us! It was just a yet another example of how wonderfully we are supported by the House of Brigid family back home.

In other news, Jess has been in America since Thursday of last week so she could be the Confirmation sponsor for one of her sisters who actually took the Confirmation name of our very own patroness.  Congratulations Grace Brigid Mannen! As of this morning Carolyn has also left for the states to interview for several possible job positions because believe it or not, in about forty-five days, three of us will actually be leaving this place we’ve called home for the past nine months. I won’t get all mushy yet but please keep Carolyn in your prayers this week as she completes her interviews as well as Jessica as she travels back to Ireland later this week! For now, Patrick and I are holding down the fort here in Wexford and are having fun being the “kids” in charge. (So much junk food this week!)

Our work schedule for this week includes continuing Class Mass preparations for a Marian themed Mass at the end of the month, preparing a retreat for the recently confirmed students of Blackwater to be held on Friday, and putting the final touches on a Parent Leader Appreciation Dinner for the parents who volunteered as leaders for the parish’s Confirmation preparation program, You Shall Be My Witnesses.

Have a blessed week and be sure to stop by again on Friday to read how everything went!
