This week was as near as possible to a “normal” week for us. Our time in Paris didn’t seem to leave us too behind on work, which meant that in addition to teaching Christmas carols to the most hyper group of kids ever, we had time to begin some Advent planning in earnest. Our liturgies were already all planned, and we’ve now had a chance to discuss our venture to Galway to offer an Advent prayer service there. Any chance to talk about Advent is always welcomed by me, and it was great to reflect on our favorite Advent themes and discuss how we might tie them together in prayer.

We also had time to do most of our shopping for Thanksgiving, which is coming up faster than I can keep track of. Consequently, our tiny freezer is currently FULL. of turkey. We’ll start work on pie crusts and dinner rolls tomorrow, and take it from there. As we continue to prepare, we’re hoping that we’ll remember the true spirit of this American holiday, and take the opportunity to be particularly thankful for all those who have helped us get here (and all of our family members who have provided us with our favorite recipes).
