Many people thought I wouldn’t be crazy enough to try this “Resurrection Play” thing again.  Well, they were right.  I mean, we don’t want to give the same story two years in a row, now, do we?  So, instead, I’m going back to the original idea of the “Passion Play”…!

Rehearsals began last week, and we’re already off and running with quite a bit of the choral music.  Next week will pick up with more solo rehearsals and then scene work the following week.  I had a huge learning curve last year in dealing with how to produce a play with such a culturally different cast, but I think this year I have a much better handle on it all, and I’m rather looking forward to the entire process!

We’ll be using Emily’s original script, albeit with a few musical additions.  The adaptation will freshen it up for people who might’ve seen the play the first time around, and give those who are involved in the production again some new things to work on.  Brigid has come on board as our stage manager, and Laura is taking up Cameron’s old post of musical director.  As for Ben…well, maybe I’ll let you ask him that one for yourselves!  (Hint – he’s IN the play…)

The cast includes a few familiar faces from last year, and many of the children have returned, as well.  So far we’re up to a grand total of 17 adults and 16 children.  (But, there’s plenty of room for more if anyone is still interested in taking part!)  I absolutely love the community and collaboration that takes place within this project, and I’m thrilled to be undertaking my post as director, again.

I also have a few tricks up my sleeve that may or may not deal with a “real” River Jordan and the “feeding” of the 5,000…  But, I’ll have to let you come see the play for yourselves in order to figure out how I’ll work all that out!

Peace,
–Joy.
