Greetings, all. Happy Friday! Happy January 18th! Happy feasts of Sts. Sulpicius, Ammonius, and Diecola! (I’m not sure who they are, but to me those names sound like “Sts. Suspicious, Ammonia, and Dracula/Diet Cola.”) Hopefully you know a little more than I do. Anyhow, I think we’ve finally hit the capper in terms of number of events per week. I’ve provided a handy calculat–excuse me, *calendar (those Saints have me mixing up my words) so you can electronically relive our week. If our Google calendar could talk, I’m pretty sure it would have protested at the number of events we were cramming into tiny little white 1/2 hour boxes.

SUNDAY: The usual morning full of masses, music, and sacramental prep classes, rounded up with a heavy dose of Les Miserables. I think a couple of us had to be scraped off the floor of the cinema after dissolving into heaps of tears. (Cups of tears? Buckets? Troughs?)

MONDAY: Workshop rehearsal, lots of preparation for the 2nd Parent leader training night for the You Shall Be My Witnesses (YSBMW) Confirmation program. Hopefully after the 2nd training evening, the parents are set and ready to face the eager, energetic masses of 6th class students this upcoming Monday night. One way we help out our poor overloaded google cal is by using handy abbreviations. Only problem is, for programs such as YSBMW, I often think “You Shall have a BMW” to which I think, well jeez, I guess if I must….maybe one

TUESDAY: Preparation for the 3rd and final 1st Communion teaching mass for the 2nd class students in the church. We listened to the angelic voices of the 2nd class students singing about the Eucharist, we quizzed the students on altar preparation, and I gave the homily. Which I can’t say I’ve exactly done in the past. Or will probably ever get to do again. I spoke to the 2nd class children about my Faith and why it’s important to me! We were talking about preparing the altar for Communion and, when asking the children what they needed to bring to their table to prepare for a meal, they spoke into the mic saying, “plates, cups, cutlery, silverware, napkins” and one boy chimed in, “chicken!” I could bet it would be an interesting day if he were designing the First Communion mass. And onward into

WEDNESDAY: A family liturgy group meeting in Enniscorthy, a fancy dinner for the Molly, Nick and the entire group at an Irish place (of which I can never pronounce the name), and heaps (cups? buckets? troughs?) of choir rehearsals! Yay for Ordinary time, especially on

THURSDAY: Team meeting! Parish team, that is. We come together monthly to touch base, to sort out responsibilities, and pray as a community. Then Father Lennon brought us to that lovely Irish place that I can’t pronounce for lunch, followed by Emily sticking posters all around town for Passion Play auditions! But I’ll tell ya, I had to be creative in where I could place the posters. It ain’t easy to find an open slot of prime space, so if you’re ever tying your shoe or picking up something that fell near the fish market and happen to look to the wall, you’ll find the needed audition information. We then packed up and headed for New Ross for a workshop with a couple groups of liturgical musicians. We taught four new pieces (or groups of pieces…the Mass of Charity and Love was in there too!) It seems they all really enjoyed the evening and we were told that it was the 2nd time that they’d ever learned a piece using sheet music. The first time was Christmas. So I’d say kudos to them for sticking it out and making a beautiful sound! We finished up with a cuppa and are headlong into

FRIDAY: St. Brigid’s Day meeting, complete with the fast and furious Brigid cross making! With only the best rushes Wexford has to offer. Let us know if you can come by and help us with that large task. Then a radio show recording by Sir Nicholas, a friend visiting Emily from the States, and a folk group rehearsal. Are you still with us? Great, you can come help us make St. Brigid crosses.

And until next time, I’ll bid you adieu, auf wiedersehen, tabhair aire. (Maybe if you say all those quickly, you’ll get the name of that Irish restaurant!)

Here are some bonus throwback pics from the Wexford Festival Opera in Oct/Nov:
